Skibladner_2.jpg

The paddle steamer Skibladner was built in 1856 and was originally used as an extension of the railway from Eidsvoll to Lillehammer. It still transports tourists on our biggest lake Mjøsa and on its outlet river Vorma during the summer season. My photo, black and white 1956. Notice the logs; lumber was still transported by floating down rivers. Also, notice the sailor in front of the paddle wheel, it might not be discernible, but he is holding a boat hook and prevents logs from getting into the wheel.

Skiblander 100 years

We – students leaving the school – celebrated Skibladner's 100 years anniversary in our Constitution Day procession 17 May 1956.

Skiblander 150 years

A postage stamp from 2006 when Skibladner was 150 years old.
